ANTHONY DAVIS DESIGNS

I first conceived this webpage design 20 years ago, as a complex Mondrian-like painting with black birds - crows or mynahs - perched on black bars. Some of the squares would have been filled with gold leaf. When I decided to build this website to show web designs, illustrations and paintings, I resurrected the idea in a simpler form.

FOUNDATION FOR AUTISM SUPPORT AND TRAINING

Karen Kaye-Beal. founder and CEO of the Foundation for Autism Support and Training (FAST) designed this website as a means of bringing information about autism spectrum disorder to parents of children and adults with autism, and to inform and advise parents on how to plan for the future of their children when they —the parents—are no longer able to care for them.

Karen had a detailed script for a one minute long animation she wanted for an opening page, which you'll see if you click on the image.

MAISON CONTI

Rick Harrison and Nancy Wilson, an american couple living in France, bought a three story house in the historic town of Montmirail. This enchanting house rests at the foot of the beautiful château of Montmirail. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the castle was owned by the Princess Conti, favorite daughter of Louis XIV. The house was built as a residence for her finance minister. The town has been designated an historical site, preserving it's appearance at the time of Princess Conti.

In spring 2008 the house opens to the public for the first time as a bed and breakfast.

CALIFORNIA SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL FABRIC DESIGN

Zeida Rothman asked me to build a new opening page for her school website. As a designer herself she had some definite ideas of what she wanted. This page is a blend both of our talents and ideas.

ROSES FROM A TO Z

Local author, photographer, and rose expert Carolyn Parker invited me to build this website (http://www.rosesfromatoz.com/), which promotes her garden design business and new coffee table book "R is for Rose." The rose photos on this site are in her book. Carolyn laid out all the webpages, and I wrote the code.

I also set Carolyn up with a system for sending out an HTML news letter. She plans to use it to promote upcoming speaking engagements and book signings, as well as share information on roses and how to grow and nurture them.

CASALS

The page is part of a proposal I made to redesign the website of a cellist. Since this design has not yet been accepted and may not be, I've changed the name to that of the most famous cellist of the mid twentieth century, Pablo Casals.

THE ALEXANDER EDUCATIONAL CENTER

The Alexander Educational Center is the premiere training academy in America for teachers of the Alexander Technique. This technique was developed by an Australian Shakespearean actor named F. He developed a system to correct the posture and give people consciousness of and relief from the physical tensions that interfere with the proper functioning of the body.

PARIS FLEA MARKET

The Paris Flea Market (http://www.parisfleamarket.com/) sells both new and vintage items in a charming, Old World atmosphere. The store is an eclectic mix of home furnishings, gifts, purses and shawls, jewelry and books ~ and lots of unpredictable "finds" that draw both shoppers and designers there regularly. I built this site after I graduated from the Contra Costa County's Regional Occupational Program web design class in Pleasant Hill CA. My job was to create a site where a large number of photos could be added and deleted by someone with minimal coding skills. We use Macromedia Contribute for this. The store's owner, Collins Flannery, has become quite adept at that tool, and I recommend it to other fledgling web managers who need to update their sites often.

Steve Sardella Website

STEVE SARDELLA

Steve Sardella is a highly respected marriage and family therapist in Walnut Creek CA who also teaches psychotherapeutic technique at a local university. Steve wanted a website that evoked the sense of warmth, knowledge, and expertise that his practice is known for (http://www.stevesardella.com/). Steve particularly liked the idea of light letters on a dark background, a style that gave weight to the graphic design. I also took Steve's photo.

For an unusual touch, I designed it so that the background image in the body appeared to show through holes in the page.
